It's a whopper of a Whoopee history
In July 1910, Brighton had its first annual Whoopee Days. However, it was known then as Booster Days. The name changed for the annual celebration in 1929, when residents wanted to celebrate the completion of the pavement through the business district and Highway 1. "Whoopee" was the word that had just been recently coined to express what one meant by a hilarious good time. The grand finale was a big pavement dance at night! Each year, Whoopee Days has grown to include entertainment, a talent show, a carnival, mud run, parade and more.
